 Years ago I took a wednesday night class at my church where we studied the book of Psalms.
At the end, our pastor told us the next week was our last one, and he had a homework assignment for us...
He wanted us to write a psalm and read it to the class....
this was mine~   

Lord you are amazing!
If I find myself in a dark alley...
You are there.
You walk in front of me, beside me and you watch my back....
how do you do that?
When I am on my sick bed....
You are there to comfort me.
sometimes you speak to me through my friends...
very often through your written word.
sometimes when you seem to be silent, or distant...
I try and remember your promise to stick by me, and choose to believe it.
Lord you are wonderful!
what have I ever done to deserve your love?
was it my parents numerous fervent prayers?
You chose me before I was born.
I have won the biggest "lottery" there is!
when people say there is no such thing as a free lunch....
I tell them about your death, and great love for us....
and that it's free for the asking.
I thank you for my friends who pray for me, and encourage me....
It touches me deeply, and reminds me to do the same for them as well~

excellent....man i need to read the bible more (i do love biblical archeology and the bible does point to it) and go to church (ok i work every sunday..yea i am one of those guys but my mission is my job-i chase bad guys) more often.. i do believe in jesus christ as the only way and the gift is free (right now in group bible study we are studying john 3:16 but the kid has mono so i missed last week)..why do we as people seem to seek darkness when the gift is light and water..it confounds me the way we are...keep the faith-god speed

ps: back in the day my oldest daughter was to be born with no brain so the doc told us to get an abortion..she is now a senior at arkansas (go razorbacks) and is a smart kid..granted my first wife decided it looked better elsewhere and i went thru hell before i married a great christian lady (took me 10 years to get over it)..oh well enuff fluff but my point is give it to god and he does have a plan-ride side-god speed

Nice psalm Bill, well done, and shooter I have a gentleman in my church that has the same job with a similar tesimony, my hats off to you gents for all you do.

B Holmes... sorry to take so long to respond.... no there was no format or any specifics given to us... just write a Psalm. I had absolutely drawn a blank until the night before the class, and i just said a prayer, sat down with pencil and paper and started to write...
