Hello,

My "bone stock" to "adventure-ish" KTM 690 is now almost complete.  Just awaiting some new mirrors and a brake pedal that are still working their way through the mail system.

But here it is ... ready for a big ride this weekend ....

It looks pink due to bad lighting/iPhone/photographer .... I can assure you it's orange!

Can't wait to take it on dirt this weekend - though in the meantime, I've been commuting a couple of days each week - what a hoot this bike is to ride.  It's like an LC8 for midgets (like me!)  :D (5' 7", 145lb).

Promise I'll take a few more in it's "natural domain" ...

That made me go "Hmmmm", so I looked it up on www.cycle-ergo.com, it shows a 36"+ seat height!  :o. I'm 5' 10" and my feet would be dangling in the air

We're going to hold you to that  ;D

Indeed, I have a couple of paradoxical height handicaps - the other is fear of heights - which I have to deal with inasmuch as I really enjoy rock climbing and mountaineering ...  :o  Bizarre - I have no rational explanation why I gravitate to these sports to which my physiology is so ill suited....

So ... yes, with both my former DRZ and now with this bike, it's been a challenge. I've compensated in both cases with lowering links, a shaving down of the seat.  There's very little to shave down in the KTM vs the DRZ, so the other compensatory mechanism is simply "dealing with it."  I have a 30" inseam, so after the aforementioned fixes, I am able to touch boot tips at a stop.  I preferred ball of feet touching on my DRZ, but that was never going to happen on this bike.  It's much taller from the base of skid plate to the top of the seat.

Photos will be posted - I promise ... :)

One thing about these bikes though the seat height looks horrid on paper it drops alot when you sit on it.... But that may just be me! I got Daniel by about 100lbs lol.  But my 620rxc is a 35 or 36" seat height but once i sit on it its about a 32" height LOL.  Maybe I need to revisit the sag on that bike!

Thanks BH!!

The early part of the ride with the snow was pretty spectacular - I was riding alone at that point, and when I paused to take the photos, it was quite serene - could hear a thing - was special.  I just noticed you can't see the side stand in the first two photos - I'll go with the "I balanced it carefully and took the picture quick" story - I'm sticking to it ... :)

Let's see some other orange/blue/grey beasties!

A lot of nice orange bikes on here. They would look good with a C.A.R decal on them.
