Took the new to me 450 EXC out Saturday, just doing some local areas.
Here is the west entrance of the Kern Canyon where the power station pressure relief is dumping water. We have a TON of water coming down the river this year.
Then took Hwy 178 up the canyon for a while. Off the side of the highway, went up Freeway Ridge Jeep Trail, kinda steep, but the 450 didn't have any issues.
Short, bad video of that section
https://youtu.be/KaehY5jul3MI explored some dirt roads before coming back out to civilization. This is the only pic, at the marker for the Keysville mine townsite
I topped off gas in Lake Isabella, CA before heading up to the road that would take me over the Piute Peak are, but I found the gate closed. With the fires through there and the major rain we had, it was probably in bad shape....for a car.
So, I headed back around Lake Isabella and took Old State Road out of Wofford Heights to to Alta Sierra/Greenhorn Summit. The video camera battery is now dead, so here are a few pics.
Yep, those are clouds building up and starting to tumble over the ridge. It was a chilly ridge back down on the other side going home.
