Where ever the road leads!
« on: September 24, 2016, 09:50:10 pm »
For those who haven't been following my RR on Ridedualsport, I have a ministry where I travel around helping missionary's of like beliefs with building projects, I've work on Bible institutes, christian camps, christian schools, churches, missionary's homes etc..  Iv'e been over a lot of the U S from Florida to Alaska, and from South America to South Africa, 66 mission trips total in the last 17 yrs, I don't get paid for this and I am poorer than probably 99% of you, I tell people I am the poorest rich person they will ever meet, I have nothing but my God has everything, and He gives me what I need when I need it. I am currently in Mexico working on an orphanage, I've been here 6 months and it looks like I'll be here another yr unless God needs me else where. So why am I telling you this in the ride report forum, I originally rode down on my ktm 450 from TN, all back roads and across the mtns of Chihuhua Mexico to the city of Navojoa on the west coast, about 3000 miles total, then I flew home and got my truck loaded it with tools and came back down. My main projects so far have been building furniture for the people in our church and helping with concrete pours on the orphanage until they get the inside plastered so I can go in and finish it out, plus I have to build cabinets, tables, desk and all the door frames, if anybody wants to help come on down, we can use electricians, people to lay tile, plumbers, carpenters, and especially people that can plaster or stucko walls. We go up into the mtns once a month and have services in other villages, we were in 4 different ones this week, had 8 adults and 2 children accept Christ as their savior, one of the villages has given the missionary a piece of property to build a church on as we regularly have 100 people when ever we go up thier, plans are to start the church in about a yr from now after the rainy season ends, I will post pics of the small towns/villages throughout the report. Here are a few pics of the journey down.

    My route

   The morning I left

Expansion Bridge on the Natchez Trace Parkway, I was able to talk to a lady while I was the top side who was struggling with a few things in her life, I guess I did some good as she wanted a hug before I left

Rual America, this is why you don't take the interstate

Shiloh Battlefield, a must stop if in the area

The original church at Shiloh

Had to through in some gravel on the way down

I love old churches, I stop and take pics at all that I find and always wonder about the stories they could tell

This was an interesting shot taking at another old church

This beats the interstate anyday

A road that turned out to not be a road

Some more gravel in my travel

The only reason I new there was a town here

A Catholic church complete with shrine in Archer county Texas, first church was built in 1893 this one was dedicated in 1925

Found his bus but old Bob was nowhere around

Not sure how many pics I can put on a post so I'll continue this tomorrow as dinner is calling.

The journey continues,
Passed this sign and had to back for a pic, if I had a can of paint I could have painted Jesus over the word earth, lol

My last night in the U S

Another reason not to take the interstate

There were plenty of these along the roads, the way people drive there it is easy to see why

If you want a real hamburger this place has em

The historic district in Chihuahua is a must stop if in the area

I didn't have to worry about anybody stealing my bike, I had to have someone move a vehicle the next morning so I could get out, then I forgot to turn my fuel valves back on and couldn't figure out why my bike would no longer run  :D

No sign no nothing just a tall structure with a door in the back

The old mission outside of Creel, would have better if it weren't a tourist trap with a town built right next to it, but still worth the few pesos it cost to see

Some fun riding in the same area as the mission

This is the falls that are talked about near the mission, would like to see when there is more water, a very long walk, several miles, there were 4wheeler tracts on the ridge, just need to figure out how to get my bike on top of the ridge, you wouldn't want to take a large adv bike to the fall, some rocky trails, not to bad but more than I would care for on a large machine

Basasechi falls, neat place has a campground and small lodge, you can hike to the falls but didn't have the time was on my epic run from Creel to Navojoa in one day

Some pics of El Cajon, a small town in the mtns we go to and have service once a month, they average around 100 people each service, when these pics where taken the numbers were down due the military presence in the area, a lot of the farmers grow drugs for the cartel, its good money for them, but a lot are no longer doing it because they see the trouble that goes with it

Yes this is someones home

Sharing the gospel with some of the locals, we go around and invite everybody to the service, even though they already know we are coming

A lot of the houses don't have solid roofs

This gentleman was saved 50 yrs ago when another american missionary used to come to the area, nobody knows who he was, this man is in bad health, can't see very week, barely hears, is always just laying in the bed when we come buy,

Men next time your wife mentions she would like to have a new kitchen show her this one and ask if it would do

Had a small problem with the van but our top mechanic got right on it

The house that we invade each week, these people are so humble in the mtns it is almost unbelievable

The road going up, it takes 2 hrs to get there,

So here are some pics of where I am at and what I'm doing, the orphanage is the main project, I am here to help with the finish work, tile electrical plumbing, I can do anything except block, but I still help out with the concrete pours and other parts when needed, other wise I am building furniture and taking care of other problems around the facilities

Getting ready to pour the front porch roof

A lot of rebar and more was added

It took 7 hrs to pour this with buckets

Mexican cement trucks lined up and ready to go  :D

Inside the church

Pastor and assistant pastor with wife and new born son

Sunday school class, in 105 degree temps  :o

So what do you do at the end of the day, you go across town and help another pastor pour concrete at his church, reward fresh tomales  ;)

For those that think I am nuts for riding a dirt bike down this 125cc bike was riding down from Montana oriinally

The orphanage when I first arrived

The church

My house that I share with another local and on weekends I get 2 more teens from the bible collage in Hermosilla

A bed I made for a church members daughter, a lot of the kids sleep on the ground, and very few people have any kind of dresser for their close

This is one of the worst houses, but there are plenty of them around, when you make 1000 pesos a week some less some more (thats about $55 US) it dosen't go far

One of the nicer shacks which belongs to a church member who is very faithful in serving and sharing the gospel with those in his area

The inside, his wife and other child had walked to the store for firewood to cook with

This is what it looks like when cooking dinner gets out of hand

Mario is 92 and yes he still rides his motorcycle, he pulls a small cart with it and sells whatever he can to make money for food, the old people here don't have social security and most of the kids won't take care of their parents

Living at the highest point in the city has one draw back, water pressure, we can go weeks without getting any water so we have to haul it in

Visitation

Visiting the elderly in the church, Concha was sick here and we weren't sure if she would make it, but she is now able to come to church again

The street outside my house

A bunk bed I made for another church member

Orphanage now 2nd floor walls mostly up, plastering the inside and working on getting ready to pour the roof, which takes a lot of work

What the locals call a closet, I made this one for my house so no doors, I put doors on the others,

That's all the pics I have uploaded now, I will upload some from our recent trip up the mtn, which was this week, we held services in 4 different towns with a total of I believe 12 salvations, 8 adults and 4 children, and I'll take pics of my shop as well, hasta luego amigos
